Overview
"Medovača Dunja" is a quince brandy specialty from Stara Pesma, flavored or mixed with honey — "Medovača" means honey rakija. Dunja (quince) and honey combine two aromatically intense Serbian specialties in a distilled form of special sweetness and depth.
In the glass
Golden yellow to honey yellow; warm and inviting in color.
On the nose
Intense quince essence — floral, fruity, with pear and apple notes. Honey, beeswax, and a hint of rosewater make the aroma profile sweet and complex.
On the palate
Sweet and warm, with ripe quince fruit and a honeyed sheen. Less sharp than classic rakija due to the added honey. The finish is sweet, aromatic, and lingering.
Serving suggestion
Neat after a meal as a digestif; with Serbian desserts, nut baklava, or intense blue cheeses. Also possible on ice.
