At a Glance
Zlatno Runo 2017 – "Golden Fleece" – is an expressive, single-varietal Cabernet Sauvignon from Vinarija Janko in Smederevo. The 2017 vintage shows impressive structure and aging potential. Aged in oak barriques, the wine develops secondary complexity that complements the primary fruit profile.
In the Glass
Deep ruby-garnet, dense and concentrated with a slightly violet rim – a wine with substance and aging potential.
On the Nose
Dominant red and black fruits: cherry, black cherry, and blackcurrant form the core. Herbal and spice notes complement the profile; toasted almonds, nutmeg, a hint of vanilla, and dark chocolate add depth to the bouquet.
On the Palate
Powerful and full-bodied with pronounced fruitiness and rich, ripe tannins. Secondary notes from the barrique – cinnamon, vanilla, leather, fine chocolate – round out the primary fruit spectrum. The finish is long, complex, and persistent. Great aging potential.
Food Pairing
Beef fillet with a pepper crust, wild boar shanks from the oven, aged Comté or Cheddar, dark bitter chocolate.
