At a Glance
Zavet 2020 is a Bordeaux-inspired cuvée from Vinarija Janko, made from grapes grown in the Ralja vineyards, south of Belgrade. Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Merlot are blended directly in the vineyard. After two weeks of maceration and one month on the lees, the wine matures for twelve months in Serbian oak, partly in new and partly in used barriques.
In the Glass
Deep ruby-garnet with a dense core of color and a dark, colored rim.
On the Nose
Complex bouquet of red and black berries, dark tobacco, coffee, black tea, and damp earth. The aroma is deep, earthy, and elegant – a classic profile of mature Bordeaux varietals with a Serbian terroir signature.
On the Palate
Harmonious, dense, and structured with fine, well-integrated tannins. The acidity is precise and integrated, the finish long and warm. The wine impresses with its precision and composure – not obtrusive opulence, but structured depth.
Food Pairing
Braised lamb shoulder, beef pot roast with root vegetables, aged hard cheese, wild boar with lingonberry sauce.
