At a Glance
EMPERUS Voždov Grumen ZLATNI Apple Brandy 5 is a five-year-aged apple brandy from Emperus's ZLATNI premium line. It is made from seven different apple varieties grown in the Central Serbian region. Barrel aging in oak wood gives the brandy a golden yellow color and a distinct vanilla-wood structure.
In the Glass
Rich golden yellow with slightly brown reflections – the result of five years of oak aging. The surface shows good viscosity; slow tears on the glass wall.
On the Nose
Fruity apple notes – stewed apple, apple chips, and a hint of quince – open the bouquet. In the background, vanilla, caramel, and subtle woody spice from the barrel aging work together. The variety of seven apple sorts is evident in a multidimensional fruit aroma with both sweet and slightly tart apple characteristics.
On the Palate
Medium to full-bodied. The vanilla and caramel from the barrel define the entry, followed by a round apple fruit mid-palate with pleasant residual sweetness. The finish is medium-long, dry-spicy with a lingering woody finish. The interplay of fruit and wood is balanced.
Serving Suggestion
Neat in a snifter at room temperature for the full aroma profile. On the rocks for a fresher, fruit-forward start. As a digestif after game dishes or aged cheese. As a base for Apple Brandy Sours or fruit punch recipes.
