At a Glance
EMPERUS Voždov Grumen Šljivovica 5 is a five-year-aged Serbian plum brandy from the Voždov Grumen line. The base material consists of plums from Vožd Karađorđe's home village; the five years of barrel aging in Serbian oak casks give the brandy depth, roundness, and a golden hue. Šljivovica is the national spirit of Serbia and enjoys international protected designation of origin status.
In the Glass
Golden yellow to amber, with pleasant transparency. Barrel aging allows color pigments from the wood to transfer into the distillate – clearly visible after five years of maturation. Medium-high viscosity when swirled.
On the Nose
The bouquet reveals a harmonious combination of aged plum fruit and woody spice: dried plum, plum jam, and a hint of prune form the fruity base. These are joined by vanilla, caramel, and oak tannins – the typical aromas of several years of wood aging. A light cinnamon accent in the background.
On the Palate
Full-bodied and round, with a soft texture acquired through wood aging. Dried plum and a hint of honey in the mid-palate, supported by a fine tannic backbone. The finish is long, warm, and spicy, with a persistent wood and spice aftertaste. No sharp finish.
Serving Suggestion
Neat in a tulip glass at a slightly elevated room temperature – the woody aroma bouquet fully unfolds. On the rocks for a cooler, fruit-forward profile. As a digestif after traditional meat dishes. As a cocktail base in whisky-like long drinks.
Serving Recommendation
