Overview
EMPERUS Voždov Grumen Cherry Brandy is a Serbian cherry distillate made from hand-harvested cherries of the Voždov Grumen line from the Emperus distillery. Fermentation of the stone fruit mash and subsequent double distillation result in a clear, characterful spirit with typical sour cherry aromas. Stylistically related to the classic cherry brandies of Central Serbia.
In the Glass
Crystal clear and colorless - an unaged cherry brandy in its purest form. The liquid shows good viscosity and releases aromas when swirled.
On the Nose
Pure, lively cherry fruit with notes of sour cherry, Morello cherry jam, and a fine almond undertone. When aerated, hints of cherry blossom and a subtle fermentation-typical fine spirit character also emerge. The nose is clean and straightforward.
On the Palate
Fruity and lively with a crisp acidic structure that supports the cherry character. In the mid-palate, notes of stone fruit pit and a slight bitter almond note emerge, adding complexity to the brandy. The finish is medium-short, dry, and pleasantly warm.
Serving Suggestion
Neat at room temperature as a digestif after hearty meals. On the rocks with enhanced cherry aroma from the ice. As a base for a Cherry Sour or as a digestif accompaniment to chocolate desserts. Harmonizes with dark chocolate and almond pastries.
