Wine region and production: Chardonnay Terasa comes from the Negotinska Krajina wine-growing region in Serbia. The grapes for this wine thrive on the sun-drenched terraced vineyards of the Matalj winery in Mihajlovac, where the unique alluvial sandy soil ensures full-bodied, juicy, and flavorful wines.
Grape variety and vinification: Chardonnay Terasa is vinified from 100% Chardonnay grapes. After a selective hand-harvest, the grapes undergo a 12-hour cold maceration before gentle pressing and fermentation. Part of the fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks, while another part ages in new and used 225-liter and 500-liter Serbian oak barrels. After 6 months on the lees and a further 6 months in the bottle, the 2020 Chardonnay Terasa unfolds its full splendor.
