Overview
EMPERUS Voždov Grumen herbal liqueur is a Serbian herbal liqueur from the Voždov-Grumen line of the Emperus distillery. It is based on a maceration of selected herbs in alcohol according to a traditional Serbian recipe. The liqueur belongs to the category of Amaro-related, bitter-aromatic herbal spirits.
In the glass
Rich olive green to dark green color with a slight shimmer – characteristic of herb-based maceration liqueurs containing chlorophyll. The surface shows a dense, slow drip down the glass wall.
On the nose
Intense, complex herbal bouquet: fresh mint and lemon balm dominate the first impression, followed by dried mountain herbs, gentian bitter notes, and a slight aniseed undertone. In the background, resinous and forest aromas emerge, indicating a wide selection of herbs.
On the palate
Strong herbal bitterness on the entry, followed by a medium sweetness that softens the herbal character. Distinct bitter notes of gentian and bark, accompanied by menthol-like fresh aromas. The finish is long, dry-bitter and invigorating – typical of a high-quality digestif liqueur.
Serving suggestion
Neat as a classic digestif at room temperature or slightly chilled. On the rocks with a slower development of bitterness. As a base for Negroni variations or in long drinks with tonic water. Harmonizes with dark chocolate and strong aged cheeses.
