At a glance
Misija Bariq 2019 is a barrel-aged Chardonnay from Vinarija Janko in Smederevsko Vinogorje. After 18 months of aging in Serbian, American, and French oak barriques, this wine showcases the classic combination of fruit depth and oak-driven complexity. Decanter Bronze 2018 (Misija Barrique 2016).
In the glass
Luminous straw yellow with golden reflections, brilliant and warm.
On the nose
Complex bouquet: toasted bread and crème brûlée alternate with apricot and pineapple. Fine minerality keeps the aroma balanced. The 18 months of barrique aging imparts secondary notes without overshadowing the primary fruit base.
On the palate
Full-bodied, creamy, and extractive with a balanced interplay of oak spice, lively acidity, and ripe fruit. The finish is long and opulent, the texture creamy. The wine shows aging potential and opens up with air.
Food pairing
Fatty river fish like catfish or perch, poultry in cream sauce, pasta carbonara, Gratin Dauphinois, aged Comté or Gruyère.
